The Sea Power for Africa Symposium (SPAS 2026) will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, alongside the 70th Anniversary of the Nigerian Navy, bringing together maritime stakeholders to address security, governance, and ocean-related challenges.
Under the theme “Leveraging Technology for Enhanced Maritime Security in Africa,” the symposium will examine how technology and cooperation support safer maritime environments and the sustainable use of ocean resources.
The symposium will be held from 2–3 June 2026, within the broader program from 31 May to 4 June 2026.
Discussions will include maritime governance, regional cooperation, maritime domain awareness, and digital transformation, alongside enforcement and international collaboration.
The event begins on 31 May 2026 with a cocktail reception and an International Fleet Review at the Eko Atlantic Waterfront.
On 1 June 2026, the international exhibition and VVIP tour will open, alongside an exclusive gala dinner for invited guests.
From 2–3 June 2026, the symposium will host a conference program and exhibition, focusing on maritime challenges and technological developments.
The program concludes on 4 June 2026 with a ceremonial sunset, dinner, and award night.
Participants include representatives from maritime organizations, academia, and naval leadership, including Dr Paul Adalikwu, Prof. Aykut Ibrahim Olcer, and Dr Ian Ralby.
SPAS builds on its previous edition in South Africa, continuing its role in supporting maritime cooperation across Africa.
