Samson Sky has secured an $80 million investment from Dubai-based Matin Group to support the commercial production of its Switchblade flying car.
The funding will be used to establish Samson Sky’s first 180,000-square-foot Switchblade production facility, which will be located in the United States. The two companies have signed a Joint Investment Agreement and begun setting up a Joint Venture to accelerate commercial production, with $20 million still remaining to be raised for full production funding.
Former aerobatic pilot and Samson Sky Ambassador Anna V. Grebenshchikova was instrumental in bringing the two organizations together.
Designed to address regional travel over distances of 200 to 500 miles, the Switchblade is a hybrid-electric vehicle that seats two people plus luggage and is designed for both driving and flying. The vehicle runs on premium auto gas, fits in a standard garage and can be driven to a nearby airport using highways or local roads.
For safety and insurability, its flying surfaces are enclosed within the vehicle while it is in driving mode. The Switchblade transforms from driving to flying mode in three minutes at the push of a button.
The vehicle completed its official first flight in November 2023. Samson Sky is now moving the Switchblade toward production to meet demand from 50 countries worldwide and all 50 U.S. states.
Matin Group is a privately held, family-led investment and strategic holding group headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with origins in London. Through its Finance and Investment division, the group specializes in structured project financing, investment structuring and selective equity participation.
The company said the transaction reflects its strategy of partnering selectively with execution-ready businesses that combine commercial potential with long-term value creation.
Sam Bousfield, CEO and Founder of Samson Sky and designer of the Switchblade, said, “At the start, Mr. Matin saw the Switchblade’s relevance, and its ability to make a difference in the world, and our two companies quickly advanced to a position of trust. We are proud to have such a forward-thinking partner as we roll the Switchblade out to the world.”
Mustafa Matin, CEO of Matin Group, stated, “The future is not built by those who wait for certainty—it is built by those who recognise possibility before it becomes obvious. At Matin Group, we partner with people who have the courage to challenge convention and the discipline to deliver. Samson Sky is one of those rare companies, and we are proud to support their journey as they redefine the future of mobility, because we believe the most meaningful investments are those that create lasting value—not only for shareholders, but for society as a whole.”
