The ePlane Company (Ubifly Technologies), India’s leading developer of electric vertical take-off & landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has placed a firm order with HENSOLDT to supply its flagship e200X platform with a full avionics suite.

For HENSOLDT, the contract confirms a transition from joint development to series maturity, moving the flight systems into firm procurement. The integrated avionics suite serves as the core platform architecture, functioning as what ePlane describes as the “digital nervous system” of the e200X to manage navigation, situational awareness, and secure connectivity in dense urban airspace.

Our avionics are designed for the most demanding missions, and the operational profile of an eVTOL in India is the ultimate proving ground. Together, we are defining the standards for situational awareness in the Advanced Air Mobility sector.”

The e200X relies on the EuroNav 7 NG digital moving map to execute mission management and navigate urban canyons. To assist flight crews during critical operational phases, the CaviSight visual landing aid dynamically switches camera feeds to deliver an augmented view during take-off and landing.

To maintain cooperative traffic awareness in crowded skies, the onboard RF1 Smart Antenna alerts the crew to nearby aircraft. Air-to-ground connectivity is handled by CaviConnect, which establishes a secure data link between the aircraft and ground infrastructure to enable continuous health monitoring and real-time fleet management.

Processing power for mission-critical applications and future autonomous capabilities is driven by the EB1 Multipurpose Airborne Computer. System safety and regulatory compliance are anchored by the SferiRec LCR 100 lightweight flight data recorder, which captures critical operational data to support fleet oversight and safety analysis.

The commercial order coincides with key technical achievements for the e200X program. The ePlane Company has finished assembling its full-scale prototype, integrating the aircraft’s primary subsystems into a single structure for the first time. Having transitioned from the design phase, the e200X is currently undergoing a ground-test campaign ahead of upcoming flight trials and type certification with India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
