LYTE Aviation has partnered with Switzerland-based aircraft technical management leader AMROS Global to develop and commercialize the PowerBridge HyVolt, a cutting-edge hybrid-electric powerplant solution designed for high-performance military and commercial aircraft.
Electric aviation has traditionally been constrained by the limitations of battery and hydrogen technologies, particularly regarding payload, endurance, and operational range. In defense applications, electric aviation is often dismissed due to these limitations. However, the novel hybrid system bridges this gap by enabling efficient collaboration between conventional combustion engines with high horsepower and medium horsepower electric engines. This integration and alignment of two fuel sources enables the system to power not only eVTOL platforms, but also new-generation, high-performance airplanes, helicopters, and drones to ensure mission-ready capabilities.
The technology is designed to power the 40-seat SkyBus hybrid-hydrogen eVTOL, aiming for a 1,000km regional range. Uniting the forces of conventional and electric propulsion accelerates progress, enhances performance, and delivers a greater impact than competing sustainable pathways like SAF or pure battery solutions. The platform significantly reduces the output of the carbon fuel turbine engine while increasing electric propulsion to 100 percent during cruise flight, reducing pollutants and fuel burn while advancing the goal of transitioning from hybrid-electric to fully electric aviation. With a sharp focus on technical feasibility and certification, operations are targeted to begin within the next few years.

“Our work on the first 40-seat hybrid-hydrogen electric VTOL was only the beginning. With our innovative PowerBridge HyVolt, we’re now advancing toward fully electric cruise flight with a 1,000km range, a milestone that would have seemed out of reach just a few years ago. We’re deeply grateful for the vision and commitment AMROS is bringing to this partnership, both in developing and bringing it to market. This isn’t just progress for our own aircraft, it’s a platform that will enable and accelerate the electrification of aviation for OEMs across the industry,” said Freshta Farzam, CEO & Founder / LYTE Aviation.
As a trusted global player offering a complete suite of services throughout the aircraft life cycle, AMROS Global is supporting the development and commercialization of the system. “Innovation only succeeds when groundbreaking engineering is matched with operational expertise and a clear certification pathway. We are proud to support LYTE Aviation in bringing PowerBridge HyVolt from concept to commercial reality. Together, we are helping shape the next generation of aviation technology,” stated Eros Tavani, Founder & Member of the Board / AMROS Global.
