The project integrates measurement technology from Vaisala to support the safe and efficient operation of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. The deployed sensors continuously monitor wind speed, visibility, and atmospheric pressure to provide the real-time weather data required for urban eVTOL operations.

The air taxi station near Dubai International Airport was recently visited by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The facility is described as the first of its kind in the world and forms part of Dubai’s broader plans for urban air mobility.

Fares Bou Daher, Director of Engineering & Technology at Bayanat Engineering UAE, commented, “This project represents a significant milestone for Bayanat Engineering as we expand into the vertiport sector. As Dubai moves to lead the world in commercial eVTOL services, deploying the right meteorological infrastructure is critical. This directly supports Dubai’s ambition to become a global hub for sustainable urban air mobility.”

Elie Hannouche, Group Managing Director of Bayanat Engineering, added, “The technical completion of the DXV vertiport is a defining moment, not just for Dubai, but for urban air mobility globally. Bayanat Engineering’s role in ensuring the operational safety of this facility reflects our core mission: delivering the infrastructure that makes advanced aviation possible.”

Skyports Infrastructure is responsible for the design, construction, and operation of vertiports and heliports for eVTOL aircraft and helicopters, with operational assets in the UK and US and projects under development across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Vaisala provides weather, environmental, and industrial measurement technologies and has more than 90 years of experience in climate and environmental monitoring.
