Eve Air Mobility has established a Framework Agreement with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MTT) of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to advance sustainable air mobility and support the development of electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) operations in the Middle East.

The partnership supports Bahrain’s objective to become a leader of next-generation mobility. The agreement, announced during the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum 2025, is set to expedite the readiness of Bahrain’s operational, regulatory, and infrastructure ecosystem necessary for eVTOL aircraft operations.

Key elements of the collaboration include setting up a sandbox environment to test and refine Advanced Air Mobility systems and developing vertiport infrastructure for safe and scalable deployment of eVTOL technology.

The effort also prioritizes workforce training and focuses on low-noise, zero-emission operations. Initial commercial operations are projected to begin in 2028, with expansion to international routes planned for 2029.

Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve, stated, “Signing this Framework Agreement with the Kingdom of Bahrain represents a historic step in our journey to bring sustainable air mobility to the Middle East. Bahrain’s vision to become a hub for innovation and clean transportation aligns perfectly with our mission to transform the way people move in cities and regions sustainably. Together, we are building the foundation for safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible eVTOL operations that will connect communities and unlock new economic opportunities.”

His Excellency the Minister Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, added, “The Agreement with Eve Air Mobility, a globally trusted partner in eVTOL aircraft development, demonstrates Bahrain’s firm commitment to establishing the region as a center of excellence for innovation in aviation. Together, we are committed to making safe and sustainable aviation a reality for Bahrain, the GCC region and the world.”

Eve is also assessing potential premium shuttle and tourist routes across several major cities in the region, including Manama, Istanbul, Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. These routes are intended to offer passengers significant time savings and unique mobility experiences for both tourists and residents.

Designed to suit the region’s environment, Eve’s eVTOL features include microclimate air conditioning, advanced UV/IR window protection, and a Lift + Cruise configuration, which is designed to minimize exposure to sand and dust for enhanced comfort and reliability in extreme conditions.
