SkyDrive Inc., a leading eVTOL aircraft manufacturer based in Japan, is set to participate in the “Tokyo Future Tour 2035” exhibition at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
The exhibition, which runs from October 30 to November 9, 2025, at Tokyo Big Sight, will illustrate SkyDrive’s vision for easy and convenient urban air transport. This vision involves creating flexible urban transportation networks that combine traditional train journeys with eVTOL flights, a strategy SkyDrive is pursuing in partnership with various major Japanese railway companies.
The exhibit, located in the Land/Sky/Sea Area of the Tokyo Future Tour 2035, will feature a boardable, full-scale mockup of the SKYDRIVE (SkyDrive Model SD-05) aircraft, which was previously displayed at Expo 2025 in Osaka. Access to the mockup will be via a touch-and-go automatic ticket gate, symbolizing seamless travel. The goal is to familiarize the public with the role the sky will play as an integral part of future Tokyo travel experiences. Visitors can also view accompanying display panels detailing planned flight route concepts developed by SkyDrive and its rail partners.
SkyDrive has established business partnership agreements with four of Japan’s major railway companies to develop convenient travel routes integrating rail and advanced urban air mobility. These integrated transport networks are intended to contribute significantly to regional development. The partnerships and planned routes include:
- Kintetsu Group Holdings Co., Ltd. — Planned routes in the Ise Shima Area.
- Osaka Metro Co., Ltd. — Osaka Diamond Routes linking four locations in central Osaka.
- East Japan Railway Company (JR East) — Routes linking Morioka with AZUMA FARM KOIWAI.
- JR Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) — Routes within Oita, including flights between Beppu and Yufuin.
In addition to its rail partnerships, SkyDrive has a commercial and technological partnership with Suzuki Motor Company established in March 2022. This agreement allows SkyDrive to leverage Suzuki’s manufacturing expertise to ensure the consistent production of safe, high-quality eVTOL aircraft for global markets.
In June 2023, SkyDrive formed the subsidiary SkyWorks to handle aircraft manufacturing, with production beginning in March 2024 at a Suzuki Group plant in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The cooperation also includes a financial investment from Suzuki in SkyDrive, support for SkyDrive’s business development in India, and the appointment of Naoki Ishii, Representative Director and Executive Vice President of Suzuki, as an independent SkyDrive director.
SkyDrive’s eVTOL incorporates advanced Japanese technology. To ensure a future stable supply of high-quality aircraft, SkyDrive is harnessing the skills and knowledge of Japanese companies including Suzuki, and NHK SPRING Co., Ltd., a producer and developer of automobile industry components.
