Blade Urban Air Mobility has been appointed as the Official Air Mobility Partner for the 2025 Ryder Cup, highlighting the role of next-generation urban air mobility at the prestigious sporting event.

Blade’s parent company, Joby Aviation, will display a next-generation all-electric and emission-free air taxi for Ryder Cup attendees. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the aircraft and “fly” it on an augmented reality flight simulator. This unique attraction is intended to showcase the transition from conventional rotorcraft to electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, which offer quieter and emissions-free air travel.

To support the air mobility activation, Blade will operate one of the largest civilian helicopter movements to a sporting event in US history. The company’s Ryder Cup Vertiport, located onsite at Bethpage Red, features 15 landing zones, with an additional amphibious seaplane landing zone at Republic Airport. Over the four-day event, Blade is expected to transport approximately 3,000 passengers between three Blade Lounges in Manhattan and surrounding areas to the on-course BLADE Vertiport and neighboring Republic Airport.

Christiana Weller, VP of Marketing at Blade, said, “Given the significant strain on ground infrastructure during major PGA events, offering Blade service to Ryder Cup attendees enables us to demonstrate the power of urban air mobility. We are also proud to showcase our parent company’s next-generation quiet and emission-free aircraft that we hope guests will fly on during the next U.S. Ryder Cup in 2029.”

Passengers arriving via Blade will enjoy seamless access through the company’s on-course Ryder Cup Lounge, located inside the PGA’s VIP Corporate Scan Gate entrance, and receive golf-cart transfers directly to the championship grounds.

John Handley, Director of Partnerships & Championship Sales of the PGA, added, “Blade is helping make travel to the Ryder Cup faster, seamless, and more enjoyable for our guests. Together, we are committed to providing a world-class experience to and from Bethpage Black.”

Blade flights are available by-the-seat and by private charter through the Blade app, reducing the hours-long drive into a 12-minute flight.
