Supernal, a developer of eVTOLs within the Hyundai Motor Group, is undergoing leadership changes as the company transitions from early-stage R&D to a sharpened focus on business and operational development.

Dr. Jaiwon Shin, CEO of Supernal, LLC and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s AAM Division, has left these roles effective August 31, to become an advisor to the Group. Under his leadership, the Group established the groundwork for future aviation mobility technologies through an integrated development approach.

The Hyundai Motor Group intends to appoint new leadership with deep expertise in business operations, advancing Urban Air Mobility (UAM) solutions, and guiding the organization into its next phase of growth.

During the transition David Rottblatt, Senior Director of Business Development, will oversee Supernal’s business operations as the Interim COO.

Although the AAM industry faces external challenges, such as regulatory frameworks, infrastructure development, and ecosystem maturity, Hyundai Motor Group views these as part of the sector’s natural evolution. The Group is confident in AAM’s long-term potential and continues to invest in building a sustainable business.
