Volz Servos is supplying advanced actuator solutions for Vertical Aerospace’s VX4 prototype, a piloted electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for safe, quiet, and zero-emission operations.

The DA 30-HT, DA 30-HT-D, and DA 58-D actuators control all primary flight surfaces of the VX4. Featuring integrated Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol, they provide high precision and reliability to meet the demanding requirements of modern aviation technology.

With more than 1,500 VX4 pre-orders from operators including American Airlines, Japan Airlines, GOL, and Bristow, the programme is advancing towards becoming a key player in sustainable air transport.

Volz has collaborated with Vertical Aerospace since 2019, supporting all stages of the VX4 development programme. CEO Phillipp Volz stated, “We have been working with Vertical since 2019 and are proud to support the latest phases of VX4 flight testing alongside other industry leaders. Our actuators have proven their precision and reliability in a demanding flight test environment.“

In 2025, Vertical Aerospace became only the second company worldwide to complete piloted thrustborne flight manoeuvres with a full-scale vectored thrust eVTOL aircraft, followed by a successful piloted wingborne flight in open airspace.
