SkyGrid, a Third-Party Service Provider in the AAM ecosystem, is set to become a subsidiary of Wisk, an AAM company and developer of the first all-electric, self-flying air taxi in the U.S.
This strategic integration positions Wisk to accelerate the development and deployment of safe, efficient, and scalable autonomous flight solutions, reinforcing its leadership in the rapidly evolving air mobility market.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boeing, Wisk is actively moving through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Type Certification process for its next-generation autonomous aircraft, the Generation 6 model.
By bringing SkyGrid under its umbrella, Wisk gains access to specialized digital tools designed to improve real-time situational awareness, streamline airspace integration, and support advanced decision-making systems. These capabilities are critical not only to ensure safe day-to-day operations but also to meet the growing demand for autonomous aviation at scale. Together, Wisk and SkyGrid are poised to enable Automated Flight Rules, an essential framework for integrating autonomous vehicles safely and efficiently into national airspace.
Sebastien Vigneron, CEO of Wisk, said, “To unlock the full potential of Advanced Air Mobility, we must also have advanced airspace. By collaborating with SkyGrid, we’re vertically integrating our own aircraft autonomy technologies with their established airspace automation capabilities, accelerating the path to safer, more efficient air travel in the national airspace system.”
Jia Xu, CEO of SkyGrid, added, “This alignment with Wisk marks an important step in the advancement of autonomous aviation. By deploying our comprehensive airspace integration capabilities with Wisk’s autonomous eVTOL technology, we are paving a path to safe, efficient, and increasingly autonomous operations for all. Together, we are doing the hard, practical, and necessary work to unlock aviation autonomy and digital airspace.”
SkyGrid’s aircraft-agnostic platform will continue to serve a diverse external client base focused on airspace integration, autonomous aviation, and Air Traffic Management automation. Its technology delivers scalable, interoperable solutions adaptable to various vehicle types and mission profiles, supporting broader industry adoption.
Recognizing that the future of autonomous flight requires collaboration among regulators, research institutions, and industry stakeholders worldwide, Wisk and SkyGrid are committed to advancing autonomy through innovative airspace operations, expanding global deployment, and sustained operational validation. This partnership ensures that progress in Advanced Air Mobility remains practical, scalable, and aligned with the dynamic needs of the industry.
