UrbanLink Air Mobility has increased its order of REGENT Viceroy seagliders from 27 to 47 units.

This move marks one of the largest commercial seaglider orders to date and represents a major step forward in deploying zero-emission coastal mobility across South Florida and Puerto Rico.

REGENT Craft, a leading developer of all-electric seagliders, is pioneering a new category of high-speed maritime transportation that operates exclusively over water. The Viceroy seaglider leverages the ground effect phenomenon to deliver aircraft-like speeds with the operating flexibility of a maritime vehicle. UrbanLink’s expanded fleet underscores strong market confidence in REGENT’s technology and highlights growing demand for sustainable, efficient alternatives to traditional short-haul air travel.

UrbanLink, based in South Florida, is at the forefront of integrating advanced maritime and aerial technologies into the future of regional transportation. By increasing its Viceroy order by nearly 75%, the company is strategically positioning itself as a key player in the evolution of high-frequency, short-haul, zero-emission travel. This expansion aims to ease congestion on overburdened highways and at airports, while offering faster, cleaner, and more cost-effective service for coastal communities.

Billy Thalheimer, Co-Founder and CEO of REGENT, said, “UrbanLink’s expanded order is a clear vote of confidence in REGENT’s seaglider technology and is testament to our continued timely execution certification and product development milestones. Together, we’re building a more convenient and connected future for coastal communities.”

Ed Wegel, Founder and Chairman of UrbanLink, added, “We’re proud to expand our partnership with REGENT and bring this revolutionary technology to more passengers traveling high-demand routes across Florida and Puerto Rico. This partnership propels Florida to the forefront of global innovation in advanced, all-electric mobility.”

With operations planned for launch in 2027, UrbanLink intends to establish robust seaglider networks in key areas of high passenger volume. Miami-based services alone are projected to serve up to 4.3 million passengers annually, connecting urban centers and resort destinations with unprecedented efficiency.

The REGENT Viceroy is designed to revolutionize coastal transportation by combining advanced aerospace engineering with maritime operability. The benefits include:

  • Drastically reduced travel times: For example, the journey from Miami to West Palm Beach can be completed in just 35 minutes.
  • All-electric propulsion: Zero-emission systems align with growing regulatory and environmental demands.
  • Congestion mitigation: Seagliders relieve strain on crowded highways and regional airports.
  • Lower costs: Reduced infrastructure and operating expenses compared to conventional aircraft and ferries.

This expanded partnership reinforces Florida’s emerging role as a national leader in advanced mobility innovation. By deploying seagliders at scale, UrbanLink and REGENT are accelerating the transition toward sustainable maritime transport, enabling rapid, emissions-free travel across coastal routes that have traditionally been underserved by modern transit infrastructure.
