Pivotal, a leading innovator in light electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) technology, has been honored with the Gold 2025 Edison Award in the “Future of Personal Flight & Drive” category.

The award recognizes the Helix, Pivotal’s advanced, single-seat personal aircraft designed to make everyday flight accessible, intuitive, and safe.

The Helix offers a new standard for personal air mobility. With its electric propulsion system, intuitive tilt-to-cruise mechanism, and streamlined biplane design, it delivers a seamless vertical takeoff followed by smooth forward flight. The aircraft’s panoramic canopy, ergonomic controls, and minimalistic flight deck focus on simplicity and user engagement—allowing pilots to experience flight with reduced operational complexity and a heightened sense of control.

Ken Karklin, CEO of Pivotal, said, “We are honored to be recognized by the Edison Awards for Pivotal’s innovations in personal aviation. Like Edison and Ford, who transformed how people lived and moved in everyday life, we set out to make flight more accessible. Our light eVTOL aircraft combine breakthrough electric propulsion and an unconventional architecture with simplified controls, opening the skies to more people than ever before.”

Karklin added, “At Pivotal, we are driven by a relentless focus on excellence. Our mission is to bring safe, easy-to-fly eVTOL aircraft to market, transforming the future of personal aviation by rethinking and executing the art of possible.”

Frank Bonafilia, CEO of Edison Awards, said, “Pivotal’s Helix is a game-changing innovation in personal transportation, making the future of personal flight a reality right now. It’s the kind of forward-thinking solution that exemplifies the visionary work we recognize at the Edison Awards.”

Purpose-built to reduce points of failure and enhance safety, the Helix is also cloud-connected, enabling performance monitoring and over-the-air updates. This emphasis on design and innovation earned the aircraft top recognition in a highly competitive category judged by a panel of over 3,000 senior experts in engineering, design, marketing, science, and product development.

The Edison Awards are globally recognized for celebrating excellence in technological innovation, and Pivotal’s win underscores the Helix’s significance in shaping the future of personal aviation.Pivotal, a leading innovator in light electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) technology, has been honored with the Gold 2025 Edison Award in the “Future of Personal Flight & Drive” category.
