California-based vertiport developer and operator Skyway has formed a strategic alliance with Drones, Automation & Robotics Technology (DART) to accelerate the adoption of advanced air mobility (AAM) across the state.

DART, headquartered in the Monterey Bay Tri-County Region—a hub for leading eVTOL manufacturers—shares Skyway’s commitment to driving investment, innovation, and economic expansion in both metropolitan and rural areas. This collaboration builds upon DART’s 2024 AAM Readiness Assessment, integrating Skyway’s expertise in financial modeling and operational planning to establish a roadmap for regional air mobility. The initial phase of this initiative focuses on developing a vision for AAM operations in the Monterey Bay region, with expansion plans extending into the Bay Area, Central Valley, and beyond.

A comprehensive feasibility study will assess the potential for a statewide vertiport network, offering valuable insights for ongoing transportation strategies and economic development efforts. This analysis aims to support pioneering companies, foster high-paying careers, and enhance mobility solutions—including emergency response capabilities.

By weaving AAM into urban and remote communities alike, the partnership seeks to unlock new job opportunities and spur economic activity. From infrastructure expansion to workforce education programs, Skyway and DART are committed to ensuring that advancements in air mobility benefit regions across California, with a strong emphasis on the Monterey Bay Tri-County area.

Clifford Cruz, Skyway CEO, said, “DART’s expertise in catalyzing regional workforce development and infrastructure solutions, combined with Skyway’s innovative approach to vertiport operations, will create a blueprint for cities and regions across California. Together, we’re not just imagining the future-we’re building it.”

Positioned as key connectors among industry players, government agencies, academic institutions, and private-sector leaders, Skyway and DART are fostering a cooperative ecosystem where AAM can flourish. Their partnership underscores the importance of a robust network of industry stakeholders to meet the increasing demand for next-generation aviation solutions.
