Funded by the European Commission through EIT’s Urban Mobility program, U-SAVE aims to enhance emergency response times, mitigate traffic disruptions, and improve safety by offering an alternative to traditional ground-based methods. The project will integrate advanced aerial solutions that are optimized for urban environments, ensuring they are both reliable and environmentally friendly. These systems will be managed through cutting-edge software tailored for Air Traffic Management and Urban Air Mobility (UAM), ensuring seamless emergency operations.

The project brings together a prestigious consortium, including industry leaders such as the Aragonese Aerospace Cluster (AERA), the Aragonese Innovative Logistics Association (ALIA), ANRA Technologies, and the Estonian Aviation Academy (EAVA). It is also supported by public bodies like Zaragoza City Council, the Aragonese Institute of Health Sciences, the Aragón Health Cluster, and the city of Tartu in Estonia, along with private sector backing from companies such as Novaltia and Prolog.

EHang will play a pivotal role in this project by providing its advanced EH216 series pilotless eVTOL aircraft, drawing on its extensive experience in UAM and its established presence across Europe. The project will feature live flight demonstrations in Zaragoza, Spain, and Tartu, Estonia, as well as trial flights at EHang’s UAM Center at Lleida–Alguaire International Airport (LEDA) in Spain, which was inaugurated in November 2023, to ensure thorough testing of the system’s capabilities.

Inés Villa, Managing Director of AERA, said, “The transformative nature of the project, which combines cutting-edge technology, such as the world’s first certified pilotless eVTOL aircraft from EHang, with sustainable practices aimed at improving urban resilience and quality of life.”

Victoria Jing Xiang, Chief Operating Officer of EHang Europe and Latin America, stated, “U-SAVE represents a groundbreaking approach to urban emergency logistics, combining advanced technology with sustainable practices to strengthen urban resilience and safety. We are proud to contribute our EH216 series pilotless eVTOL aircraft system to provide innovative, fast and safe solutions for enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of emergency response services in cities and thus improve the quality of urban life.”
