Eve Air Mobility, Revo, an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) solution provider in Brazil, along with its holding company, Omni Helicopters International Group (OHI), have completed a urban air traffic simulation in São Paulo as part of their collaborative effort to establish the AAM framework in the metropolitan area.

The exercise, employing Revo’s helicopter fleet and Eve’s Urban Air Traffic Management (Urban ATM) program Vector, was conducted at Revo’s flight control facility in São Paulo.

While monitoring Revo’s helicopter activities, Vector conducted simulations for managing and observing eVTOL flights in a metropolitan setting, implementing protocols required for multiple scenarios, including takeoff and arrival delays, weather and airspace limitations, mid-flight rerouting to alternative landing sites, among other situations, which underwent testing beginning Monday, October 21. The exercise aimed to confirm new traffic control protocols essential for eVTOLs to perform secure and dependable operations during initial deployment and in high-frequency scenarios at volume.

Eve and Revo have additionally collaborated to promote vital AAM industry participant cooperation to create optimal eVTOL operational standards, aerial control procedures, and ground operations. São Paulo, recognized for hosting the globe’s highest concentration of helicopter operations, offers a substantial prospect for eVTOLs to transform transportation in one of earth’s most populous and traffic-challenged urban centers.

Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve, said; “This simulation reinforces Eve’s efforts to introduce eVTOL flights to metropolitan areas and provide communities with an additional mode of transportation that is safe, sustainable, and efficient.

“We’re delighted to partner with Revo for this initiative to foster the urban air mobility market in Latin America’s largest city, aiming to conduct a real-world simulation to set the stage for urban flights in Sao Paulo in a climate-conscious manner.”

Jeremy Akel, CEO of OHI, said; “We see ourselves as a provider of aerial mobility solutions, with innovation in our DNA. As the leader in Latin America in offshore transportation, we aim to be pioneers in adopting new technologies and helicopter models.

“Recently, we contributed to aviation history in Brazil with the first and longest uncrewed civil flight to an offshore platform, co-existing in airspace with other aircraft. This demonstrates that we have the experience and vision to help shape the future of air mobility.”

João Welsh, CEO of Revo, added; “eVTOLs are the future of air mobility. They will make flights more sustainable and easily available. To make this a reality, we must develop the ecosystem and required infrastructure.

“We took the first step just over a year ago, starting an accelerated learning process with helicopters to lead this transition. Early collaboration between industry leaders, regulators, urban planners, infrastructure developers, and local communities will help ensure that key challenges are addressed holistically, and we will continue to develop the ecosystem over the coming months. We are committed to creating a future where urban flights will be safe, more democratic and carbon-neutral.”

The simulation and enhancement of the AAM framework in Sao Paulo complement Revo’s commitment to acquire up to 50 of Eve’s eVTOL aircraft, utilization of Eve TechCare, Eve’s comprehensive service package for eVTOLs, and Vector.
