A new partnership between an Italian vertiport network operator and an airport operator in Saudi Arabia will aim to develop AAM in the Middle East country.

UrbanV and Cluster2 will cooperate to support and build the AAM ecosystem in Cluster2’s Airport network, in preparation for commercial operations in Saudi Arabia.

The two companies will also conduct comprehensive feasibility studies to implement AAM solutions at airports managed by Cluster2 Airports, while ensuring compliance with the regulations of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, safety standards and environmental sustainability goals.

The partnership also includes UrbanV transferring its expertise in advanced air mobility (AAM), providing training programs and technical knowledge, and cooperating with relevant parties.

Furthermore, the companies will launch initial pilot programs for the introduction of eVTOL services for targeted applications such as medical emergencies, VIP transport, and cargo logistics. These programs will act as proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate the operational integration of AAM in real-world conditions.

Both companies are committed with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its broader sustainability goals, including the use of zero-emission eVTOL vehicles and environmentally sustainable vertiport design.

Carlo Tursi, CEO at UrbanV, said; “At UrbanV, we aim to improve people’s lives by enabling a fast, efficient, safe, and clean alternative to existing transport solutions for people and goods over short distances, by air. We have the ambition to become a major global operator of vertiport networks and we will be global pioneers in establishing some of the first AAM routes worldwide.

We are excited to partner with Cluster2, a major player in the airport management space, and we look forward to exploring together with them the great potential of introducing advanced air mobility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The CEO of the Cluster2 Airports, Eng. Ali Masrahi, added; “We are pleased to sign this partnership, as we seek in such partnerships to have a presence and leadership in finding solutions for (AAM) in addition to creating an integrated ecosystem for our various airports in the Kingdom, while emphasizing the application of environmental sustainability in all our airports.
