The Advanced Air Mobility Institute has revealed the successful conclusion of the inaugural Research Council Student Showcase, an event that highlighted the groundbreaking research and innovative advancements in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).

The event brought together Research Council Members, guest speakers, and promising student researchers to share insights and celebrate the contributions that are shaping the future of AAM.

The showcase served as a platform for presenting cutting-edge research that addresses the evolving needs of the AAM sector, emphasizing the importance of innovation and collaboration. Highlights from the showcase included presentations from student researchers and industry aficionados, some of whom included Lukas Asmer from the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

Lukas delivered a presentation on urban mobility and unmanned aircraft systems, stressing the importance of a holistic perspective in establishing Urban Air Mobility (UAM) as a viable transportation system. Julia Reichel of Mercuri Urval discussed the evolving landscape of the AAM industry, contrasting traditional aviation businesses with emerging eVTOL ventures and highlighting the critical role of soft skills alongside technical expertise in navigating the complexities of modern aviation.

Dr. Molloy said; “I am thrilled to congratulate the Members of the Research Council on their exceptional presentations in the field of Advanced Air Mobility at the Student Showcase. Their innovative research and dedication have set a new standard for excellence, highlighting the transformative potential of their work. At the AAM Institute, we are immensely proud of their achievements, which are paving the way for a safer, more efficient, and sustainable future in air transportation.”

The Showcase underscored the vital role of collaborative efforts and interdisciplinary research in addressing the multifaceted challenges of AAM. “As the Vice-Chair of the Research Council, I was thrilled to aid in the planning of our inaugural Research Council Student Showcase,” said Dr. Nick Tepylo.

“The event brought people together who have a passion for improving society and it gave our members a platform to showcase their research to the greater AAM community. The diverse perspectives of speakers demonstrated the holistic approach needed to address the challenges on the horizon in the AAM industry.”

The event concluded with reflections from Dr. Tepylo, who highlighted the significance of integrating diverse perspectives.
